The Records Management Department is an internal County department responsible for the systematic control of records from creation to final disposition on behalf of the various agencies providing services to Steuben County. The methodical approach to control of government records is essential to reduce paperwork proliferation, provide efficient access to information, dispose of obsolete records, provide documentation of compliance to State and Federal courts and agencies, and maintain historical organizational records. The Steuben County Records Center is located at 20 E Morris St. Loc. 140-1. Staffing is comprised of a Records Retention Clerk and a Records Manager. The Department's objective is to provide accessible and manageable records control to all divisions of County government, as well as to preserve historical records for generations to come.
