Shared Use of Equipment
County, Towns, NYSDEC, NYSDOT and BOCES: Dozers, trucks, lowboy, track excavators, loaders, shoulder widener, chip seal machine.
Schuyler County:  Loans its jersey spreader, dozer operator and message boards to Steuben DPW.
BOCES:  Provides equipment to the Towns and County.

Joint Ownership and Operation of Equipment
Pavement Striping truck: Steuben with Schuyler and Yates counties.
Gravel Crusher: Steuben County with the towns of Cameron, Jasper, Tuscarora & Woodhull.
Steuben County Soil & Water Conservation Service
Works with County DPW, Towns, and NYSDEC to clean creeks.  The gravel is used to build roads.  
County DPW works with S&WCS to place erosion control rip rap and rock spurs in County streams. DPW provides an operator and repair services for a Soil & Water Conservation Services track hoe.
Flood Repair
County and Town crews help each other with equipment and personnel to repair flood damage.
Snowplowing
Towns plow 200 miles of County road under a per mile per year payment contract.  
County plows 100 miles of State roads under a per mile per year payment contract.
Mowing: Towns mow 160 miles of County roads under a per mile per mowing payment contract.
Bridge Construction
County designs, builds and maintains all Town bridges longer than 20 ft.  The Towns maintain the driving surface of these 142 bridges.  
County engineering and construction departments advise Towns on small bridge and road project designs.
Chip Seal Roads: County crews chip seal some Town roads.
Guide Rail: County crews install guide rail for Towns.
Signs: County crews lay out and erect signs for Towns.
