For more than 80 years, our caring staff has been dedicated to meeting the health care needs of thousands of Steuben County residents.  In 1918, the appointment of a County Tuberculosis Nurse began what is now known as Steuben County Public Health & Nursing Services.  Since that time, we have continually provided individuals and families with health education and the care to prevent disease.

Services You Can Count On

Whether it be caring for you or a loved one at home or providing important immunizations to newborns, we provide a wide range of quality services to help you maintain your optimum wellness:

Home Health Care
- following surgery, stroke or any illness or injury.

Long-Term Care
- an Alternative to nursing home care.

Medical Obstetrical and Maternal Services
- prenatal care and postpartum education.

Family Health Services
- wellness clinics, prevention, screening, and treatment.

Health Education
- provided as a public service for organizations, clubs, schools, and businesses.

Eligibility and Cost

To receive Home Health Care, Long-Term Care and Medical Obstetrical and Maternal Services you must be a resident of Steuben County and be referred by a physician hospital, family or friend.  To be eligible for Family Health Services and Health education a referral is not needed as long as you are a resident of the county.  Call us directly to receive more information about eligibility.

Fees are based on the actual cost to the agency and may be covered in part or in full by: Medicare, Medicaid or Private Health Insurance.  For services not covered by insurance, charges are based on a sliding fee scale and the patient's income.  Ability to pay is not a requirement for services.  Many of our clinics and Health Education classes are provided as a public service and are free of charge.
