April
26, 2008 - Seeking
information on the grand larceny of three motor vehicles from Bennett's
Auto Parts. The Steuben County Sheriff's Office Criminal
Investigation
Unit is currently investigating the Grand Larceny and Attempted Grand
Larceny of
three motor vehicles from Bennett’s Auto Parts located on State Route
415 in
the Town of Avoca. During the early
morning hours of April 26, 2008, three unknown males were caught on
video
cameras on the property of Bennett’s Auto Parts in the process of
stealing
three motor vehicles and other automotive parts. Two
of the vehicles, a 1992 Chevrolet S-10
and a 1988 Dodge Dakota, were located just off the premises. The
suspects were attempting to remove these
two vehicles from the locked yard area when both became stuck in the
soft
earth. The third vehicle, a 1995 Nissan
Pathfinder, color gold, was removed from the property with a stolen
plate from
a customer’s vehicle located at Bennett’s Auto Parts. The
Pathfinder, which has been destroyed by
fire, has been recovered by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office in
a field
on the Salamanca Indian Reservation. The suspect’s vehicle involved in
the
incident, as well as
the three suspects in the investigation, are shown below from the video
clips. The suspect vehicle is believed
to be around a 2000 Ford Ranger extended cab, black/dark purple or
blue in
color, with fender flares and aluminum wheels. The
suspects are not identifiable from the video, but one
of the
suspects appears to have a cast on his right forearm and in the video
he uses
only his left hand.
Any agency with the
information on the possible suspects or suspect vehicle is asked to
contact Sr.
